Tim McGraw said he “was on cloud 9” when he married fellow country megastar Faith Hill 29 years ago.
McGraw shared a tribute to Hill on Monday (October 6) in honor of the couple’s anniversary. The two country stars tied the knot just a few months after their engagement, on October 6, 1996, in a surprise ceremony in McGraw’s aunt’s backyard in Rayville, Louisiana. McGraw and Hill invited their guests to a softball game and concert, and surprised them with their intimate wedding instead. They’ve since raised three daughters: Gracie McGraw, 28, Maggie McGraw, 27, and Audrey McGraw, 23.
“I was marrying the girl of my dreams, she was everything, my complete soulmate!” McGraw wrote in his caption on Instagram. “We have been through so much together, our girls growing up, me trying to grow up, and you, you, you, always there, always there for all of us when we fell, always you when we triumphed, always you. When we love, when we live, when we think of how to love, live and dream, always you. You are my girl, I love you with a fire that grows each passing year.”
McGraw called Hill “the queen” when he performed at the 2025 iHeartRadio Music Festival the evening before her birthday last month. He said when he introduced himself to the Las Vegas audience that they “can call me Faith’s husband. I like that better.” on Hill’s Birthday, McGraw hailed her “my soulmate, my rock, my force of nature, my everything. This is the best damn person that there is. Her heart is pure gold. Her love is unconditional. Her love is bigger than the universe. I love this woman. Happy birthday my love. And yes, I married waaaayyy above my head!”
