Lawmaker Trying To Make Stealing Packages A State Jail Felony

We've all seen the videos on the internet of people clear as day stealing packages of peoples front porches. It really makes us mad when we see them. Now, what happens to those criminals who are caught by police stealing the packages?

If the items in the package cost less than $100, the crime is a Class C misdemeanor, and the punishment is a ticket. Basically it seems like a slap on the wrist according to State Representative Gene Wu, District 137 (D-Houston). Wu, has filed a bill that would make stealing packages a state jail felony.

Wu went on and said, "I think what's more aggravating is that people have all these perpetrators on video, you can see their face clearly, you can see their vehicle clearly you can see their license plate number, but there's almost no prosecutions."

Although this bill is in Texas, would you like this bill be passed nationwide?
