Glynn County Police investigate woman found dead in Turtle River

According to a statement released Monday, Glynn County Police Major Crimes Unit are investigating cause of death after a woman's body was found Saturday morning in the Turtle River near Blythe Island.

Police have identified the woman and have notified her next of kin, but have not released her name.

A boater called 911 around 9:20 a.m. Saturday after spotting what appeared to be a body floating in the river. Fire rescue workers used a civilian's boat to retrieve her body. Her body is undergoing autopsy at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Medical Examiner's Office in Pooler.
