Two killed in crash on US 17 in Brunswick Tuesday afternoon

Two people were killed in a crash on US Hwy 17 on Tuesday afternoon. Police report that a 51-year-old Brunswick woman crossed the median at a curve on Hwy 17 into oncoming traffic, side swiping another vehicle and then hitting another vehicle head on. The collision killed her and a woman from Canton in a separate vehicle.

Witnesses say the driver, Lori Fry of Brunswick, was headed southbound near Marshside Grill on 17 and did not turn with the upcoming bend in the road, but continued straight over the median. Fry first side swiped 45-year-old Karen Colver of Kingsland, before hitting 66-year-old Norma Collins head on.

Lori Fry and Norma Collins were taken to Southeast Georgia Health System's in Brunswick where both succumbed to their injuries. Karen Colver was also taken to the hospital for treatment, but had minor injuries.
