Newnan woman loses her father and home days before wedding after tornado

Following the massive storm that ripped through Newnan last week, Jordan Martin of Newnan lost her father and her home just days before she was set to have her wedding.

Martin's father, Barry Eugene Martin, 56, died of a heart attack while attempting to check on his daughter during the storm. First responders had a hard time reaching him with all of the damage caused by the storm when they got the call.

To make matters worse, Jordan's home had also been destroyed by the tornado late Friday night.

A friend of the Martin family, Amanda Kovacs, has set up a GoFundMe page to help rebuild Jordan's home and pay for Barry's funeral. A Meal Train has also been set up to help the family with meals for the coming weeks.

On the GoFundMe page, Kovacs also mentions that Jordan was supposed to get married on Saturday, March 27 and her father was supposed to walk her down the aisle. She also talks about how Barry was a big part of their community.

"Her father was not only one of the kindest people in our small town, but also was an avid supporter of local businesses, worked running his own for many many years where Jordan worked. He also continued to support his daughter's Alma Mater East Coweta through all athletic endeavors. He was seen every year at the state tournament in Columbus watching the new athletes compete... Just an all around amazing man who is now with Jesus."

So far, the page has raised almost $32k for Jordan and her family.
