Daylight reveals damage in downtown Charleston after protest turns to riot

This Sunday morning, businesses and property owners in downtown Charleston began cleaning up broken glass and boarding windows from last nights riots.

Charleston police closed down King Street at 9:00 am for cleaning.

Protesters gathered at 2pm on Saturday to rally as a demonstration for justice for George Floyd, who died Monday while in police custody.

Many protesters expressed that their intention was a peaceful protest and that they did not want violence. As night fell, people began to throw rocks at cars, businesses, and police.
