On January 1, 2018 the Georgia Bureau of Investigation's Douglas Regional Office received a request by the Clinch County Sheriff’s Office to assist with the recovery of human remains. After a lengthy investigation that included DNA testing, the GBI announced this week that the remains have been positively identified as Jacob “Jake” Dewitt Conner, 30, of Fargo. Conner was reported missing on February 1, 2017. While GBI Special Agent Mark Pro stated the identity was confirmed earlier this week, he declined to comment on the cause of death at this time.
