Blake Shelton and Ariana Grande are both coaches on this season of The Voice, and the country singer has gotten candid about his longstanding (and one-sided) rivalry with Ariana Grande. In a recent talk with PEOPLE in promotion of The Voice's new season, Shelton revealed that his "dreams were destroyed" in 2016 when Grande released Dangerous Woman on the same day as his record If I'm Honest.

Shelton's record was poised to reach No. 1 on the charts up until it was announced that Grande would be releasing her album on the same day, leaving Shelton to receive a call telling him he had no shot at the overall chart.

"Literally, I may as well have released a coster of a CD," Shelton said.

Despite not being able to reach No. 1 on the overall chart, If I'm Honest landed at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart. Grande teased back promising to make it up to Shelton with a cover of If I'm Honest.

Shelton recently got married to his longtime girlfriend and former The Voice co-star, Gwen Stefani. The couple tied the knot after five years together this past July, with the No Doubt singer recently sharing the heartfelt moment when she decided on her wedding dress. The two opted to keep the affair small, only inviting family members, and Stefani's veil featured the names of each of her three kids, as well as hers and Shelton's.

Grande, meanwhile, is launching her own beauty brand, r.e.m. Beauty. After keeping the project under wraps for two years, the "r.e.m." singer has opened up to reveal that the brand will see limited drops of products focusing on each aspect of beauty and makeup, beginning with the eyes. Grande will also be starring in the upcoming Netflix and Adam McKay film, Don't Look Up, alongside talents such as Meryl Streep, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Timothée Chalamet, Jonah Hill, and Kid Cudi.
