According to reports The Florida Department of Corrections has canceled visitation at all 149 of its facilities this Saturday, Aug. 19, and Sunday, Aug. 20, citing a security threat. The action is on response to what department officials are calling “credible intelligence indicating that small groups of inmates at several institutions may attempt to disrupt (FDC) operations and impact safety and security.”

“There’s no reason to be alarmed. We are just being proactive,’’ said Michelle Glady, a spokeswoman for the department, adding the agency is taking preemptive steps to secure facilities so that staff and inmates will be secure.
