Tolls Return in Florida early Thursday

FORT LAUDERDALE (970 WFLA) -- More than a week of toll-free driving around Florida, in the wake of Hurricane Irma, is coming to an end.

The Florida Department of Transportation says tolls will be reinstated on the Turnpike, other toll roads and bridges at 12:01 a.m. Thursday (21).

There's one exception... tolls will remain suspended on the Homestead Extension of the Turnpike south of the State Road 874 interchange in Miami-Dade County, to assist residents of the Keys with recovery efforts.

In the Tampa Bay area, this affects the Selmon Expressway, the Veterans Expressway, the Suncoast Parkway, the Sunshine Skyway, and the Polk Parkway.
