Woman Chooses Epic Way To Celebrate Beating Cancer

Last year, Wendy Freden was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 44. Following a double mastectomy, she underwent 16 weeks of chemotherapy, which she finally finished last week, and she celebrated like a boss.

While most people who beat cancer leave the Texas Oncology hospital by gently ringing a bell, Wendy took it one step further, strapping on boxing gloves to punch the bell. Her daughter triumphantly posted photos of it on Twitter writing in all caps, "My mom beat cancer!"

Fraden still has a long road ahead of her with breast reconstruction, a possible hysterectomy and up to ten years of anti-estrogen medicine, but she is clearly a fighter.

Freden hopes her story will inspire women to check their breasts for lumps and get regular mammograms. Learn more about how to do it here
